Starbase Ascension is far more than an orbital command centre. It is a living community in permanent orbit above Draconis Prime, bringing together Draconis STARFLEET personnel, Academy cadets, scientists, diplomats, visitors and families from across the Federation and beyond.
Its immense structure contains residential districts, research facilities, educational institutions, diplomatic spaces, starship support facilities and places devoted simply to living well.
For many who serve aboard Ascension, this is not somewhere they merely work. It is home.
MORE THAN A STARBASE
AN ORBITAL CITY
Ascension was conceived on the scale of a city rather than a conventional space station.
Its great orbital structure supports Draconis STARFLEET operations and visiting starships while also sustaining the everyday life of a permanent population. Residential communities, scientific institutes, cultural spaces, gardens, recreation areas and public gathering places exist alongside the facilities required for exploration beyond Draconis Prime.
The result is an installation designed around people as much as starships.

At the heart of Ascension lies one of its defining features — an immense protected living environment beneath the station's transparent dome.

Ascension serves as one of the principal operational centres of Draconis STARFLEET.
From here, missions are coordinated, scientific expeditions prepared, diplomatic initiatives supported and starships dispatched into the wider galaxy.
Yet its working spaces reflect the philosophy of the station itself. Technology, natural environments and communal areas exist together rather than being separated into sterile compartments.

LEARNING AMONG THE STARS
HOME OF DRACONIS ACADEMY
Starbase Ascension is also home to Draconis Academy.
Here, cadets learn within the same living environment in which Draconis STARFLEET operates. Their education extends beyond classrooms into laboratories, starship facilities, scientific institutions and the diverse community surrounding them.
Cadets live aboard Ascension during their studies, with dedicated quarters and communal spaces integrated into the wider station.
The Academy prepares its students not simply for a career, but for participation in a community built around exploration, learning, service and cooperation.
